The provincial government invites developers to submit proposals for at least 20 new affordable seniors housing units in Summerside.

This project is part of $5.2 million in federal funding received through the Investment in Affordable Housing Agreement, which is allocated for new seniors units in areas of greatest need.

The timing of these proposals will allow for developers to prepare for the spring construction season and building to begin soon to increase the supply of affordable housing for Island seniors, government stated in a news release.

The federal funding also includes a request for proposals issued recently for 30 new seniors units in Charlottetown. Both the Summerside and Charlottetown units will be completed and available for rental by April 1, 2019.
