CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — Charlottetown council has given the green light to closing down a portion of Queen Street on Sunday afternoons this summer and fall.
The portion of Queen Street, from Grafton to Dorchester streets, will be closed every Sunday from June 23 to Oct. 6.
Vendors line up on both sides of the street in the parking stalls for the Downtown Charlottetown Farmers’ Market.
Dawn Alan, executive director of Downtown Charlottetown Inc., has raised concerns over safety in the past after some near misses between vehicles and pedestrians since the market’s inception.
Charlottetown Police Services has also reviewed the matter and is in agreement with council.
