KENSINGTON, P.E.I. — A 61-year-old man is facing charges after police conducted a targeted traffic stop and seized thousands of contraband cigarettes.

The Prince District Joint Force Operations (JFO) Unit, which is comprised of RCMP, Summerside and Kensington police members, conducted the stop and arrested two men in Kensington recently.

As a result, 50,000 contraband cigarettes and a small amount of prescription pills were seized.

The man faces charges under the Excise Act and Provincial Tobacco Taxation Act.

The investigation into this matter is still ongoing.
