SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. — A 20-year-old Summerside man was arrested after he allegedly fled police early Monday.

Graydon James Hearn appeared in provincial court to answer to a charge of flight from police. Hearn was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 17.

Around 3 a.m. Sept. 9, Summerside Police Services were called to Brophy Street when someone reported a suspicious person on a motorcycle in the area.

Police found a man on a motorcycle near Elm Street and Maple Avenue.  The motorcycle did not have a license plate attached. When police attempted a traffic stop, the suspect fled on the motorcycle - first north on Elm Street then east on Tower Street.

Police did not continue the pursuit due to safety concerns but located the same motorcycle again within minutes, this time on the sidewalk on MacEwen Road in the Ryan Street area.

The driver appeared to be having problems driving the motorcycle and police were able to pursue on foot as the motorcycle drove into a grassy area near Frank Mellish Street.
