A woman was sentenced to 45 days in jail for sending police on a wild goose chase.
Caitlyn Elizabeth Keenan, who pleaded guilty to mischief, will also be placed on probation for 12 months once she has served her jail sentence.
Court heard Keenan made a bogus call to 911 reporting seeing a man smoking a methadone pipe while he was driving.
Crown attorney Lisa Goulden noted Keenan ‘s intentionally false information resulted in a police officer being made to unnecessarily “travel all over the county.’’
Goulden said such mischief is taken very seriously.
Defence lawyer Joel Wonnaccott told the court his client Keenan has a long history of struggling with mental health and addiction issues.
He said Keenan has been taking steps to address those issues.
“She does recognize that she has to turn her life around,’’ he said.
