A word from SaltWire Network chief meteorologist Cindy Day

“Our wind is wild thanks to the rain, snow and windstorm that remains parked over the Gulf of St. Lawrence. A tight pressure gradient close to the storm’s centre continues to generate a strong and cold west wind across the Island. Temperatures are five degrees below seasonable values with feel-like temperatures near -20 C. While there won’t be much west to east movement on the weather map, you will notice north to south fluctuations on the thermometer. A series of weak troughs of low pressure extending back from the weather maker will bring slight changes in the wind direction that will result in temperature fluctuations. Temperatures will moderate tomorrow, only to tumble again on Friday. The weekend looks fair with a mix of sun and cloud and less wind. We’re in for a little March warm-up early next week.”
