A word from SaltWire Network chief meteorologist Cindy Day:

“There’s not much on my radar right now, but a developing weekend rain system could mark the end of this quiet weather pattern, and some might say “easy” winter. The messy system is starting to come together off the west coast. It’s expected to reach the central Great Lakes by Friday, then track north of the province during the weekend. There is snow and ice on the leading edge of the low, but a strengthening south wind ahead of the system will bring us milder air and rain late Saturday to Sunday morning. As for that wind, it will intensify to gust between 60 and 70 km/h; colder air will follow on Monday. Tuesday is still almost a week away, but I’m watching an interesting system that could bring us some wind and snow. Stay tuned.”
