Weather – Snow in the forecast

The SaltWire Network weather desk indicates a high-pressure system moving eastward over southern Atlantic Canada gives mostly sunny conditions and mild temperatures before a low passing to the north brings rain in the south.

The Island may be in for a bit of a windy, wintery surprise by week’s end.

Special weather statement: Potential storm over the Maritimes late in the week

A storm will likely develop Friday and affect P.E.I. into the weekend. While it is too soon to provide specific details on precipitation, there is a good possibility of accumulating snow, heavy rainfall and strong winds.

In addition, there is a possibility of higher than normal water levels as well as large waves impacting coastlines where winds blow onshore. The highest risk is for parts of north to west facing coastlines.

It is too early to give specifics on impacts and areas to be affected. Additional information will be provided it becomes available.

For weather updates throughout the day, check in with SaltWire Network’s chief meteorologist Cindy Day by visiting Weather by Day.
