A word from SaltWire Network chief meteorologist Cindy Day:

“Stalled systems bring more sizzle. Last week’s dry heat is being replaced by an increasingly muggy air mass. A stalled low off Baffin Island will hold a high south of the Avalon and another low-pressure system off the western tip of Nova Scotia. A counter-clockwise circulation around the offshore low is drawing warm, humid air across the province; we’ll see more cloud this week, with fog and drizzle along south-facing coastlines. There’s very little if any rain for us this week, but I am watching a developing system that could bring some relief from the very dry conditions this weekend. It will approach from the west on Saturday and slowly cross the region on Sunday. Rainfall totals could be in the 20-30 millimetres range – with higher amounts in localized thunderstorms. A wind shift to the west will follow the front.”
