A word from SaltWire Network chief meteorologist Cindy Day:

“I don’t see any significant weather on the horizon this week. There will be a couple of minor disturbances stretching across the province, but each one will be weakened by the presence of an upper-level, high-pressure system. Wet flurries will mix with showers as our temperatures fluctuate from one side of the freezing mark to the other. Through it all, it is not going to feel like mid-January – especially not on Saturday. By then, a system that will have developed along the west coast, will track up and over the region, pulling in some very mild air. I wouldn’t be surprised to see some upper single-digit highs Saturday afternoon. The warm air comes with a cold rain; rainfall totals will range from 20 to 30 millimetres by the time the system moves out on Sunday. Colder air returns by Monday, in the wake of the soggy system."
