A word from SaltWire Network chief meteorologist Cindy Day:

Cindy Day

“The first week of July has been a little on the cool side, but that is about to change. I’m watching a cluster of thunderstorms off the Carolina coast that could develop into a tropical system; if it becomes a named storm, it will be Fay. Regardless, it will bring warmer temperatures and lots of humidity; humidex values will range from 30 to 35 C tomorrow and Saturday. Eventually, the large area of instability will bring us some rain overnight Saturday into Sunday. Rainfall totals are expected to be quite significant over central New Brunswick, but a slight shift in the system’s track could shift the heavy rain bands. Unsettled weather will linger through the early part of next week.”
