Weather

Today is the first day of spring, and it will be a sunny day across the Island. Southwest wind expected to gust up to 40 km/h, and the high is 3 C. With the wind chill, it will feel like -11 C in the morning. The UV index is 4, or moderate.

Tonight, a few clouds and southwest wind will gust up to 20 km/h. The low is -5 C, but with the wind chill it will feel like -7 C in the evening and -12 C overnight.

SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT: System expected to bring rain, snow, and strong winds to the region Friday and Saturday.

A low-pressure system is expected to form off the United States eastern seaboard and track northeastward towards the Maritimes on Friday. The system could bring rain, strong winds and potentially some snow to the province beginning on Friday and ending during the day on Saturday.

At this time, there is considerable uncertainty in the track and timing of this low which will affect the amount and type of precipitation expected.
