Traffic

Road work will continue around Charlottetown today causing traffic delays and/or road closures in some areas.

Belvedere Avenue will be reduced to one lane of alternating traffic between Parkview Drive and Mount Edward Road this week. Work will also take place on Parkview Drive, Elizabeth Street, High Street and Christie Drive. These streets will be reduced to one lane of alternating traffic. Traffic control personnel will be on-site, but drivers may want to seek alternate routes. Sidewalks in the area may also be impacted during this work. Local traffic will be permitted through.

Sidewalk work will also take place on Queen Street between Paton Court and the east side of Atlantic Road.


Weather

It’ll be a cloudy day today with snow or rain starting this afternoon and a high of 3 C.

Rain mixed with snow is expected early this evening, with a rainfall amount of 15 mm. The rain is expected to end overnight with wind gusts up to 70 km/h.

The temperature is expected to rise to 10 C this evening, then fall. The overnight temperature with windchill will be minus 13 C.

ADVISORY: A weather warning is in effect for Prince Edward Island.

Strong winds that may cause damage are expected across the Island, with westerly winds gusting to 90 km/h expected on Wednesday.

An intensifying low-pressure system will approach from the southwest today and track northeastward across the Gulf of St. Lawrence overnight.

Strong southerly winds will develop ahead of the low this evening with gusts reaching up to 70 km/h.

Winds will shift to strong westerly overnight behind the system, and will increase throughout the day with gusts reaching up to 90 km/h in the afternoon.

The winds may cause damage to buildings, such as to roof shingles and windows. High winds may toss loose objects or cause tree branches to break.

Departing from Wood Islands, P.E.I. – 6:30 a.m., 11:15 a.m., 2:45 p.m., 6:15 p.m.

Departing from Caribou, N.S. – 9:30 a.m., 1 p.m., 4:30 p.m., 8 p.m.

Confederation Bridge

The Confederation Bridge is currently open to all traffic.

ADVISORY: A wind warning advisory is in effect for the Confederation Bridge.

Weather services today indicate wind conditions on Nov. 13 that may result in restrictions of traffic on the Confederation Bridge, between 7 p.m. on Nov. 13 until 6 p.m. on Nov. 15.
