CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — An Indian River man who said he thought he was OK to drive after partying the night before was recently fined $2,000 for driving drunk.
Curtis Alan Clark, 44, appeared before Judge John Douglas in provincial court in Charlottetown where he entered a guilty plea.
Crown attorney John Diamond told the court that on Dec. 28 at around 7:30 a.m. the police stopped Clark after someone called to report smelling alcohol on him.
Clark later provided breathalyzer samples that were more than twice the legal limit.
Diamond told the court Clark said he had been partying the night before and thought he was OK to drive.
Before hearing his sentence, Clark addressed the court to say he was aware he had a substance abuse problem and was trying to address it.
Along with the fine, Clark must pay a $600 victim surcharge and he is banned from driving for two years.
