A P.E.I. man who had a stolen credit card and was seen on video trying to break into a vehicle was recently given a 120 days of house arrest.

Terrance James Barrett, 37, appeared before Judge Jeff Lantz in provincial court in Charlottetown where he was sentenced for damaging property and unlawful use of a credit card.

Barrett, who had a prior criminal record, brought $100 with him to court to pay restitution before hearing his sentence.

In giving Barrett house arrest, Lantz said the provincial jail is at or close to capacity.

Barrett will also be on probation for 18 months after his sentence is complete.
