CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — A P.E.I. man who breached his probation by being in a home with a woman he wasn’t supposed to have contact with was sentenced recently to 40 days in jail.

Marc Romans MacKinnon, 39, appeared before Chief Judge Nancy Orr in provincial court in Charlottetown where he pleaded guilty to the probation breach.

The court heard the police responded to a call in April that MacKinnon was being aggressive with a woman he wasn’t supposed to have contact with.

She denied having any contact with him, but when the police searched the home, they found MacKinnon in the basement.

Defence lawyer Thane MacEachern told the court MacKinnon asked his probation officer to be allowed to contact the woman but was denied the request.

In sentencing MacKinnon, Orr said the court expects its orders to be complied with.
