P.E.I. man in custody following report of shots fired in Sturgeon

A 37-year-old Kings County man is in custody after police received a call of shots fired in the St. Marys Road area in Sturgeon.

Kings District RCMP received the call just after midnight on Friday, May 22.

Officers from both Kings and Queens districts, along with the police dog service and an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV/drone) officer, attended the scene and secured the area.

The Emergency Response Team (ERT) was notified and were en route when the man involved was noticed on the property and was arrested safely and taken into custody.

There were no injuries as a result of the situation and there is no risk to the public.

The investigation into the situation is still ongoing and further information will be provided on Monday, May 25.
