GEORGETOWN, P.E.I. — Joseph Leith Curran, 60, was sentenced to 45 days in jail for driving while disqualified.

He will be on probation for 18 months following his release and is prohibited from driving for 18 months.

Curran was caught driving in Montague on Jan. 25. He was suspected of impaired driving, the court heard, but did not register over the legal limit.

He has a prior conviction for impaired driving.

Curran’s lawyer said her client has been sober since being charged with driving while disqualified and is taking some steps to deal with his addiction to alcohol.
