CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — A 32-year-old Charlottetown man has been charged with several offences.
While on routine patrol Nov. 30, police received an alert from the LPR (Licence Plate Recognition) system of a licence plate that had been reported stolen earlier in the day.
Police located the vehicle bearing the stolen licence plate on Allen Street and attempted to pull it over, but it fled, and police did not pursue due to public safety concerns.
The vehicle was located a short time later by another officer that was able to pull it over on Peake Street. The lone occupant, who was the driver of the vehicle, was arrested and taken into custody.
He has been charged with possession of property obtained by crime, flight from police and driving while prohibited.
The accused was released from custody and will appear in provincial court at a later date.
