A P.E.I. man who ran a red light while a police officer was watching was sentenced recently to five days in jail.

TJ Curtis Livingstone, 19, appeared before Chief Judge Nancy Orr in provincial court in Charlottetown where he pleaded guilty to drunk driving.

The court heard that on March 31 at around 3 a.m. a police officer on patrol in Stratford saw Livingstone stop at a red light before driving through it.

Livingstone later provided breathalyzer samples that were more than twice the legal limit.

Along with the jail time, Livingstone must pay a $1,300 fine and is banned from driving for one year.
