CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — An Australian doctor is no longer facing child pornography charges in P.E.I. after he entered guilty pleas in his home country.

On Tuesday, the Crown stayed three charges against Dr. Stephen Peter Menzies Murray in P.E.I. Supreme Court.

Murray was facing charges of possessing, making and distributing child pornography after allegations related to written material.

The RCMP arrested Murray in 2018 after a tip from the public while he was in P.E.I.

All of the matters were previously transferred to Australia and the P.E.I. Crown stayed the charges on the Island after confirming his guilty plea.

He will now be sentenced in his home country.

Murray was allowed to return to Australia while his matters were before the courts in P.E.I. but had to abide by several conditions, that included posting $750,000 in bail.
