WELLINGTON, P.E.I. — Prince Edward Island firefighters will have the chance to pay tribute to one of their own following the off-duty death of a Saint-Chrysostome native.
Janice Mary Arsenault, a volunteer firefighter at the Umatilla Rural Fire Department in Umatilla, Ore., died due to an off-duty accident on June 17.
Arsenault was born in 1974 and raised in Saint-Chrysostome. She was an avid community member in Umatilla and served as a Wildland Firefighter Type 2, EMT basic and driver operator.
In her spare time, she enjoyed riding motorcycles, singing and playing the fiddle.
A firefighter’s funeral will be held on July 19 at 4 p.m. at the Église de Notre Dame-du-Mont-Carmel, Church of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, 7785, Route 11, Mont Carmel at 4 p.m.
