CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — A P.E.I. man who stole a jigsaw from a Home Hardware store and missed his first court appearance was recently given a suspended sentence.

Justin Charles Brown, 31, appeared before Judge John Douglas in provincial court in Charlottetown where he pleaded guilty to the theft and failing to appear in court.

Crown attorney Lisa Goulden told that court that on May 11, Brown went to a Home Hardware store in Charlottetown where he took a jigsaw, put it in his jacket and left.

Brown later turned himself in to police.

With the suspended sentence, Brown will be on probation for one year and he must perform 20 hours of community service.

Douglas also ordered Brown to pay $169.99 in restitution.
