CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — A 65-year-old P.E.I. man was sentenced to 150 days in jail for breaching a court order by contacting a former partner he has assaulted several times.

Clifford Ray Wilson was given credit of 112 days for time served, leaving him 38 days of incarceration.

Wilson breached a no contact order on Dec. 5 when he followed his former partner in his vehicle. When the other vehicle stopped, Wilson approached to offer her son money as a Christmas present.

Wilson’s lawyer noted his client had “some choice words’’ when told by the woman that he his presence was not welcomed.

The court heard Wilson has a history of assaulting his former partner and previous convictions for breaching court orders.

Chief Provincial Court Judge Nancy Orr suggested the pre-sentence report paints a clear picture that Wilson is not an individual who can drink without getting into trouble.

Orr ordered Wilson to refrain from having any contact with his former partner.
