CAVENDISH, P.E.I. — Frappuccino’s will replace the double-double on the Cavendish boardwalk this summer.
Maritime Fun Group has announced that Starbucks will be at its Mariner’s Cove Boardwalk.
The all new Seaside Café at Mariner’s Cove Boardwalk will be serving Starbucks coffee, espressos, blended drinks, teas and cold beverages, including Frappuccino’s.
Starbucks has 26,000 locations in 75 countries and 90 million visitors every week.
Tim Hortons had been a tenant at the boardwalk, but Jessica Caseley with Maritime Fun Group said D.P. Murphy Inc., which owns the Tim Hortons franchise, expressed a desire in the fall to explore other location options.
“We immediately created the Seaside Café and partnered with Starbucks,’’ Caseley said.
“We are also currently renovating the old Tim Hortons’ space to welcome a national tenant, which will be announced before the season starts.’’
The Guardian reached out to D.P. Murphy Inc. to see what the company’s plans are, but calls were not returned.
Matthew Jelley, president of Maritime Fun Group, said the group was happy to land Starbucks.
“Starbucks is the most recognized coffee brand in the world,’’ said Matthew Jelley, president of Maritime Fun Group, the company that operates Mariner’s Cove Boardwalk.
“It was important to us that Seaside Café serve a leading brand that our guests demand.’’
Seaside Café will be opening in June and will offer a selection of fresh baked goods.
Mariner’s Cove Boardwalk also features Ripley’s Believe It or Not! Odditorium, Wax World of the Stars, the Ship’s Company Pub and Galley, Islands Frozen Yogurt and Crossfire Adventure Paintball.
