MONTAGUE, P.E.I. — A community fridge has been added to the Montague Rotary Library providing a variety of food free for the taking.
Items such as fruits, vegetables, yogurt cups, bagels and cream cheese are being stocked.
“It’s not a huge fridge, but whatever we can stock it with (we will),’’ says library technician Erin Lundrigan.
Food can be taken from the fridge on Wednesdays and Thursdays between 3 and 5 p.m.
A community cupboard has been operating at the library, which is located in the Cavendish Wellness Centre, for more than two months. Items including toothpaste, toothbrushes, sanitary products and non-perishable food can be taken at no cost from the cupboard seven days a week.
Lundrigan says the cupboard is restocked every two or three days.
Donated items are accepted for both the community fridge and the community cupboard.
