CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — Bernie Plourde will be chairman of the Charlottetown food council for the next two years.

Council approved the following appointments for the new two-year term — Plourde, Meghan Adams, Brad Doiron, Phil Ferraro, Sheena Mathew, Karen Murchison, Morgan Palmer and Colleen Walton.

The food council was created in August 2018 with the intent to work towards improving the food system in the city. The council has held food-related events and created a food asset map, for example. The majority of members’ two-year terms ended this year and an open call for applications was made to fill the eight spaces.

From the 12 applications received, six applicants were selected. Two members have one year left on their terms.
