A 34-year-old Irishtown N.B. man pleaded guilty in P.E.I. Supreme Court this week to two counts of trafficking in Hydromorphone.
Aaron James Matthews entered the guilty pleas before Justice Nancy Key at what was to have been the opening day of a two-week trial.
Matthews was one of three defendants slated for trial on drug trafficking charges.
Also scheduled for trial were Alan Christopher Lea and Todd Dwaine Westcott, both of New Brunswick.
The Crown stayed the charges against Lea and Westcott after Matthews entered his guilty pleas.

Key has now adjourned the passing of sentence to Jan. 18, 2016 pending the preparation of a pre-sentence report.
Hydromorphone is a highly addictive opiate.
It is listed under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act as a schedule 1 drug, placing it in the same category as cocaine.
Matthews was one of close to 40 people arrested as part of Operation Clean Sweep, an undercover operation that netted more than $400,000 worth of illegal drugs.
