CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. - An 18-year-old Mount Stewart man has been charged with multiple alleged offences after he was arrested by police over the weekend.

On Dec. 9 at about 11:45 p.m., Queens District RCMP received a complaint of a stolen vehicle from the community of Mount Stewart.

An RCMP officer on patrol located the stolen vehicle in Charlottetown at 12:15 a.m. Dec. 10 and when she tried to stop the vehicle, the driver, Tanner Trainor, stopped the car and fled on foot.

He was stopped by a citizen and the officer was able to arrest him.

Trainor has been charged with possession of stolen property, resisting arrest, impaired driving, three breaches of probation charges and four charges of breaching court orders.

He was held in custody and is scheduled to appear in Charlottetown court on Dec. 11.

The RCMP would like to thank the citizen for their arrest, which provided the opportunity for the constable to make the arrest. They would also like to caution that no one should put themselves in harm’s way.

The RCMP said the holiday season is a time when thieves flourish and urge everyone to ensure vehicle and household doors are locked to deter crime.
