MORELL, P.E.I. — The Morell Fire Department responded to an emergency call involving a blueberry harvester that caught fire Wednesday afternoon.
Fire Chief Alan Robbins said the piece of farm equipment caught fire on the Settlement Road as it was being transferred from one field to another.
Robbins said considering how dry conditions are, firefighters are grateful the incident didn’t take place in the field.
“Things are wicked dry,’’ Robbins said emphatically.
The department responded to the call with two trucks and eight firefighters.
Robbins said they were on scene for about an hour.
