THREE RIVERS — The Cavendish Farms Wellness Centre in Montague has received about $212,000 in funding to help upgrade it for the 2023 Canada Winter Games.
Mayor Edward MacAulay shared the news during a Three Rivers committee meeting in Georgetown on Sept. 28. Council had moved to apply for the Investing in Canada federal infrastructure program in June.
"That is really good news," MacAulay said. "It'll be nice to see some Canada Games in this part of the country."
The centre was approved for a total eligible cost of $290,000 — 40 per cent will be funded federally, amounting to $116,000, while 33.33 per cent will be funded provincially at about $96,600.
MacAulay read the announcement from a letter to Three Rivers from MLA Steven Myers on behalf of the provincial and federal government.
