A P.E.I. man who went to a liquor store in Montague despite a court order meant to keep him away was sentenced recently to 21 days in jail.
William A. Bradley appeared before Chief Judge Nancy Orr in provincial court in Georgetown for sentencing after pleading guilty to breaching his probation.
The court heard Bradley was on probation in October with a condition that he not go within 1,500 metres of any liquor store.
His probation was related to convictions that included four thefts from liquor stores and an impaired driving charge.
Bradley was seen at the liquor store in Montague on Oct. 6.
Defence lawyer Yolande Murphy told the court Bradley said he had a slip but hasn’t had anything to drink since that day.
Orr said Bradley would have been out of jail for about a month when he breached his probation.
She also said the condition was in place to help Bradley stay away from liquor and temptation.
Along with the jail time Bradley must pay a $100 victim surcharge.
