Man accused of ramming stolen cars into Summerside dealership sent for assement

SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. - A 19-year-old Summerside man accused of stealing and ramming two cars into a local dealership has been released from custody on an undertaking so he can participate in a psychiatric assessment.

William Eric Rogers is facing seven criminal charges in total, some in relation to the rampage at Summerside’s Township Chevrolet on Nov. 10 and others in relation to an incident on Nov. 9. The charges include assault, forcible confinement, uttering death threats, motor vehicle theft, breaking and entering, arson – disregard for human life, and arson – damage to property.

Rogers appeared in Summerside provincial court on Tuesday. His next appearance will be on Jan. 15.
