SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. —

A Lennox Island man has pleaded guilty to one count of sexual assault and one count of forcible confinement. 

Frederick Bernard, 64, was sentenced to serve 10 months and 52 days in jail but received credit for the equivalent 52 days he has already spent in custody.

He must also serve three years of probation.

The charges involve a single female victim.

Bernard was charged on Dec. 15, 2018, in Lennox Island.

He will be added to the national sex offender registry and must submit a DNA sample to the national criminal database.
