A 71-year-old Montague man was issued a 90-day driving prohibition Nov. 12 for driving while impaired.

On Monday at about 2:20 p.m., a member of the public contacted the Montague RCMP to advise them of a possible impaired driver on Main Street in Montague.

An immediate patrol was made, and a pickup truck driven by the man was stopped in Brudenell. The driver exhibited signs of impairment and was subsequently arrested for impaired driving.

The man was transported to the Montague RCMP Detachment where he provided two samples of his breath, both were two and a half times the legal limit. He was issued the driving prohibition, was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in Georgetown Provincial Court at a later date. His vehicle was also subject to a 30-day impoundment.

Kings District RCMP are committed to investigating impaired drivers and encourage members of the public to contact 9-1-1 if they suspect an impaired driver.
