A P.E.I. man received a suspended sentence for what a judge called a “reduced role’’ in stealing gas from vehicles in Charlottetown.
Brandon Jessie Eisner-Bryenton was also placed on 12 months of probation.
Eisner-Bryenton was one of five men involved in stealing gasoline on March 1, 2017 from vehicles at Dalziel’s Auto Body and Fair Isle Ford.
Provincial Court Judge John Douglas noted Eisner-Bryenton was among three men who sat in a vehicle while two other men stole gas, causing thousands of dollars in damage to several vehicles in the process.
Douglas told the man he should have either tried to talk the others out of the crimes or to simply walk away from having any involvement.
His lawyer said Eisner-Bryenton, who had no prior criminal record, recognizes he was hanging out with the wrong crowd.
Douglas ordered Eisner-Bryenton to write a letter of apology to both businesses and pay restitution of $100 to Fair Isle Ford and $500 to Dalziel’s Auto Body. He was also ordered to stay away from both businesses.
