CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — A new show featuring Island musicians will hit the stage at the P.E.I. Brewing Company this summer.
Meaghan Blanchard, Gordie MacKeeman and Catherine MacLellan will bring “Heaven to Me – Songs and Stories of Prince Edward Island” to the P.E.I. Brewing Company event space in Charlottetown every Tuesday and Wednesday during July, August and September.
Inspired by Hal Lone Pine’s 1950s hit song of the same name, “Heaven to Me” brings generations of songs and stories to life through the Island’s finest songwriters.
MacLellan, who has performed at the brewing company for the last two summers with her show “If It’s Alright With You,” said she is looking forward to performing as a group in “Heaven to Me”.
“I’m so excited to be doing something new and fresh this summer and playing with some of my favourite Island musicians,” said MacLellan. “We are going to have a lot of fun.”
Blanchard is new to the P.E.I. Brewing Company event space.
“Everywhere I travel for music, I am forever talking about all of the little reasons why I am so in love with my home on Prince Edward Island,” she said. “How exciting it is that I now get to tell those stories with a fabulous staged show this summer, with some of my best musical friends, at one of my favourite P.E.I. venues?”
MacKeeman says he, too, is often asked about P.E.I. when he is on tour.
“People always say, “That sounds like a beautiful and great place to live”, and I always think they’re right. I am really looking forward to a show where I say that all in song,” he said.
The performers promise touching moments, laugh-out-loud stories and, above all, the hand-clapping hits of many Island songwriters.
