CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — A P.E.I. woman who was charged with impaired driving causing death after she allegedly struck and killed a cyclist is scheduled to be back in court next month.
Norma Jean Hunter, 44, wasn’t in court Monday where a lawyer appeared on her behalf as she faces three charges, including impaired driving causing death and leaving the scene of an accident.
During the proceedings, Crown attorney Nathan Beck told the court the RCMP is waiting for reports that could take up to six weeks to complete.
Those include a collision report, Beck said.
Hunter allegedly struck and killed 27-year-old Jacob Simmons as the man was riding his bike on Route 210 in Kinross on June 12.
She allegedly left the scene, and the RCMP reported that after her arrest, Hunter provided breathalyzer samples that were twice the legal limit.
Hunter’s next court date is scheduled for Aug. 24.
