CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — A young P.E.I. man has been sentenced to seven days in jail for impaired driving.

Jordan Paul Lyons, 21, pleaded guilty to operating a conveyance while having a blood alcohol level over the legal limit.

He was also fined $2,000.

Court heard Lyons' car rear-ended another vehicle at the intersection of North River and Beach Grove roads in Charlottetown on May 13.

Lyons, according to his lawyer, is both remorseful for and embarrassed by his actions.

A judge commended Lyons for taking steps to address his alcohol use just days after the incident.
