As Prince Edward Islanders head out today for Christmas shopping and holiday parties, they will be paying a little less to put gas in the car.
The Island Regulatory and Appeals Commission approved a three-cent-per-litre (cpl) drop in the price of gasoline, effective at 12:01 a.m. today.
Including taxes, pump prices for regular unleaded gasoline at self-serve outlets will now range from 111.6 to 112.7 cpl.
IRAC also announced that propane prices will increase by 7.2 cpl for Irving Energy Distribution and Marketing, by 8 cpl for both Kenmac Energy Inc. and Noonan Petroleum, by 8.2 cpl for Superior Propane and by 6.6 cpl for Island Petroleum. Maximum before tax propane prices will range from 82.4 to 85.5 cpl.
There will be no change in the price of furnace oil or diesel.
The commission’s next scheduled price adjustment is Dec. 13.
