Former P.E.I. sheriff, TV host, has sex offence case adjourned

CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — A retired sheriff and former TV host facing multiple charges including several counts of sexual assault had his case adjourned Thursday.

William Vernon Acorn, 83, was not in provincial court Thursday where his lawyer appeared on his behalf to ask for an adjournment.

Acorn is also facing charges of sexual interference, invitation to sexual touching, uttering a threat and unlawful storage of a firearm.

Judge John Douglas adjourned the matter until March 5.
