A dedication ceremony, Flags of Remembrance, was held on the Charlottetown Event Grounds Saturday.

The event was held in partnership with Veterans’ Voices of Canada and saw 128 Canadian flags raised across the country, paying tribute to the service men and women killed in armed conflict or missing-in-action from the Boer War to the present conflicts.

The flags were raised at noon in Alberta with similar flag raisings taking place across Canada, including Charlottetown.

Each flag will be accompanied by a plaque recognizing and honouring individual veterans and will remain in place until Remembrance Day ceremonies are over.

This annual event is the Veterans’ Voices of Canada’s main fundraiser and all money raised is used to fulfill the mandate of the organization - interviewing veterans, transcribing interviews, creating and disseminating DVDs and helping local organizations plan and manage their Flags of Remembrance celebrations.
