MURRAY HARBOUR, P.E.I. —
Kings district RCMP are looking for help to solve the case of a damaged fishing boat in Murray Harbour.
The damage was discovered the morning of July 4. RCMP were called to the fishing boat "Devin Special" at the Machon Point Wharf in Murray Harbour.
To date, information has shown that the damage happened sometime between 9 p.m. July 3 and 9:30 a.m. July 4.
The owner arrived at the wharf to find smoke coming from the engine house and managed to extinguish the fire but not before an estimated $15,000 - $20,000 in damage had occurred.
The battery cable had been disconnected. It arced and started the fire.
The damage occurred in the wires and hoses on the engine itself and to floor boards on the vessel.
No one was injured in the fire, but the circumstances indicate that this was not accidental and therefore the RCMP are encouraging anyone with any information to report what they know to the RCMP office in Kings County at 902-838-9300.
Respecting the property of others extends to providing information to police if you know of intentional damage that has gone unreported.
