Fire displaces five people in Charlottetown

Five people have been displaced by a fire early today that caused structural, smoke and water damage to a house containing two apartments in Charlottetown.

CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — Five people have been displaced by a fire early today that caused structural, smoke and water damage to a house containing two apartments in Charlottetown.

Disaster volunteers with the Canadian Red Cross arranged emergency lodging and meals for a couple who rented the second-storey apartment. A couple and their baby who rented the ground-level apartment will stay with relatives for now.

There were no reports of injuries from the fire which occurred on Esher Street.
