Ernie Hudson wins Alberton-Bloomfield PC nomination on second ballot

WOODSTOCK, P.E.I. — Fortune Cove resident Ernie Hudson will run under the Progressive Conservatives banner in District 26, Alberton-Bloomfield, in the next P.E.I. provincial election. Hudson won out over three other candidates on the second ballot at the party’s nomination meeting Monday night at the Mill River Resort.

From the large crowd in attendance, there were 271 registered voters, 262 of them voted on the first ballot.

A total of 252 votes were marked on the second ballot in which Ernie Hudson received the nod with 136 of them, confirming him as the District 26 Progressive Conservative candidate.

Glengarry Dairy farmer Daniel MacDonald finished second and Alberton mayor David Gordon finished third. The fourth candidate, Kildare resident Tom Radford, did not advance to the second ballot.

Hudson and his wife, Marilyn, have two adult daughters and two grandchildren. He has worked as constituency manager for former Egmont Conservative MP Gail Shea and as chief of staff of the provincial opposition office. He operates a family farm in Cascumpec and previously worked for the P.E.I. Department of Agriculture.
