A member of the Canadian military for eight years who moved to P.E.I. in 2015 is running for a Charlottetown city council seat in Ward 4.
Valentine Gomez was raised in Halifax and graduated from the Dalhousie engineering program. He now works as a project manager in Charlottetown.
“I am running for city council because I want to be a part of inspiring Charlottetown’s residents to grow their families, careers and businesses here,” Gomez said. “I want
Charlottetown to be an attractive place to work, play or retire.”
If elected, Gomez says he wants to work to make Charlottetown a more liveable city by addressing issues such as affordable housing and transportation. He would also like to see the city become more bike-friendly for commuters.
A proponent of renewable energy, Gomez helped design the solar-powered cellphone charging station now set up in Ward 4 at Upstreet Brewery.
“I will run my campaign with a minimal environmental impact,” Gomez said.
