CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — A P.E.I. woman who hit a pedestrian after going through an intersection while driving drunk was recently fined $1,500.
Michaela Hurry, 23, appeared before Judge John Douglas in provincial court in Charlottetown where she pleaded guilty to drunk driving.
Crown attorney Jeff MacDonald told the court that on Sept. 28, Hurry failed to stop at an intersection and hit a pedestrian.
The pedestrian received minor injuries.
MacDonald said Hurry stopped immediately and later provided breathalyzer samples that were around twice the legal limit.
Before hearing her sentence, Hurry told the court she realized she made a bad decision and that the situation could have been worse.
“It’s definitely a one-time thing,” she said.
Along with the fine, Hurry must pay a $500 victim surcharge and she is banned from driving for one year.
