CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — A P.E.I. man who said he didn’t think he was over the limit before the police arrested him was recently fined $1,200 for driving drunk.
Chase Aeneas MacDonald, 19, appeared before Judge Jeff Lantz in provincial court in Charlottetown where he entered a guilty plea.
The court heard that on May 31, Charlottetown police saw MacDonald driving with no licence plate and what was described as mechanical failure on one wheel.
MacDonald provided breathalyzer samples that were above the legal limit.
Lantz told MacDonald he would normally have sentenced him to jail time, but there was a shortage of beds at the correctional centre. Instead, Lantz gave MacDonald a higher fine along with a $360 victim surcharge.
MacDonald was also banned from driving for one year.
