A Cornwall man has pleaded guilty to impaired driving causing death in connection with a collision that killed a woman in March.

Stephen Michael Quinn entered the plea in P.E.I. Supreme Court in Charlottetown Tuesday.

Quinn was charged in June after a fatal collision on March 5 that killed 36-year-old Melissa Ann Palmer on the Trans-Canada Highway near Eldon.

The RCMP alleged Quinn was driving a MacInnis Express van when it collided with Palmer’s car.

Palmer was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital after the collision and later transported to Halifax where she died of her injuries.

A pre-sentence report has been ordered and Quinn will be back in court Jan. 30 for sentencing.
