SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. - A pair of Summerside men are facing drug charges after a traffic stop and subsequent police dog search Monday.
The men, a 19-year-old and a 31-year-old, were allegedly in possession of a half-ounce of crystal methamphetamine, cocaine, hydromorphone pills, marijuana, weapons and over $1,200 in cash.
The younger man was also allegedly in possession of a Ford Explorer, stolen recently from the Conway area.
At around noon Monday, Summerside police received a call about a possible sighting of the stolen vehicle in the Maple Avenue area. Officers attended the scene and located the vehicle, but the driver had fled.
An RCMP K-9 team, part of the Prince District JFO Drug Unit, helped search for the suspect. He was found around 4 p.m., with the 31-year-old, in another car parked at a Water Street East gas station.
Both men are facing drug charges. The investigation into the theft of the vehicle is ongoing.
